The official website of Katara has won an excellence award outdoing competition from 350 other websites of government and private agencies in nine Arab countries.
The award was announced at a press conference attended by Dr Khalid bin Ibrahim al-Sulaiti, general manager of Katara, and Pierre Moukarzel, president, Excellence Awards Academy in the Arab world.
Moukarzel said the process of selecting the winner was done by a committee of Arab and regional expert technicians; it was based on international standards adopted by ESCWA, an active UN organisation in the Arab region.
These standards include the creative side, usability, website’s structure and interaction, artistic visual design, in addition to the content.
Moukarzel added that the Excellence Academy in the Arab Region had been giving this award with the co-operation of Microsoft and Computer Manufacturers Association in the Middle East for the last 11 years. The aim is to offer creativity awards in website design and develop the capacities of websites’ owners in showing their ingenuity in the competition of the best website in the Arab world.
Dr al-Sulaiti expressed his happiness and said the award would add to its series of successes. He thanked the Excellence Academy in the Arab Region for the recognition.
“Katara’s website is in Arabic and English. The new version of the website launched on January 1, 2012 included information on the Cultural Village Foundation with its various components, like facilities, centres and associations.”
